Journalists struggle to make life work online

Publishing has been one the hardest hit sectors during this recession with the huge drop in advertising revenues affecting all segments of the business.  Its hard to imagine how or when this will all end, and whether their operating profits will return to highs enjoyed in the recent years.

Its a surprise and a breath of fresh air to now see a slightly different approach being taken to publishing through the launch of a new online paper Rocky Mountain Independent which aims build its subscription base whilst growing the advertising revenues for the business.  Under the current climate, this is expected to be a long process but if the right foundations are put in place and subscribers are given a slightly different service through preferential news feeds, using something like our Dynamic Question Service, then there's no doubt that from a subscription perspective the success of Rock Mountain Independent will go from strength to strength.
